Composer Features
I would like to offer contributors to the Tangent Shores 2014 call for scores a chance to present themselves and reach new fans, so I will try featuring you in the Tangent Shores newsletter, Message in a Bottle, on request.
Newsletter
I send Message in a Bottle only to subscribers. I don't spam anyone with unsolicited transmissions of the newsletter. I present a sign up box on the website and on the Facebook page. I invite subscribers to forward the newsletters. Although I don't spam, I hope subscribers will forward the newsletter a lot! I include in the newsletter news about the recording project, and for the present I will also try featuring two composers in each newsletter. For starters, I will try to get that out once every two weeks.
Who is eligible
I offer features to composers who submitted works to the 2014 call for scores. Only when I have gone through the whole list will I consider other composers. The newsletter will make no particular mention that you were a contributor. When I first acknowledged contributors on the website, some expressed sensitivity that it amounted to an announcement that they had not been selected for the CD. I get that now, and that isn't the message of the newsletter. These are simply profiles of interesting composers for the benefit of fans of Tangent Shores.
Content
I will publish in the newsletter content supplied by invited composers. I ask the featured composers, please, to respect the content guidelines. You don't have to supply all of this, but if your content exceeds this list, I will not edit it. I will skip to the next composer.
I will post a public list of transmitted newsletters on the Tangent Shores website and include the names of those featured. The newsletters will therefore continue to be available on the internet following their initial transmission. This may be useful to you if you wish your fans to be able to see your feature later.
Best wishes
I hope you like this opportunity to get the word out about your work. Keep making music. We performers and listeners need you and are grateful for what you create.
Jai Jeffryes
